Ricochet Ranch Hawaii

Working ranch with a greater purpose

Nestled in the valley-like saddle between the Koʻolau and Waiʻanae mountain ranges, our ranch is a working agricultural property where livestock grazing, kalo cultivation, native plant propagation, and community shape our everyday ranch practices.

Reclaimed Pastures

Invasive tear downs

Decades of land mismanagement, illegal waste dumping, and neglect have depleted the soil of essential nutrients and left the area littered with debris. In response, Ricochet Ranch has cleared away years of accumulated waste and is now working to remove invasive trees and introduce multi-species rotational grazing to naturally rebuild soil health, restore microbial activity, and bring new life to the land.

Today, the paddocks at Ricochet Ranch are a world away from where they started. What was once overgrown, neglected, and littered with debris is slowly becoming healthy, open pastures and farming areas. Countless hours have gone into clearing the land, hauling away trash, and giving these pastures the care they've needed for so long. There's still plenty of work ahead, but looking out at how far the ranch has come brings a real sense of pride. Every bit of progress is a reminder that all the hard work has been worth it.

Planting Traditions

Huli to harvest

Planting kalo is one of the many ways Ricochet Ranch is bringing new life to the land. From preparing the soil to planting huli and tending to each growing crop, every step takes patience, care, and hard work. It's a rewarding process that helps keep an important part of Hawaiʻi's agricultural traditions alive while growing fresh, locally raised food for the community.

Community Programming

Seeds of sustainability

Ricochet Ranch offers hands-on community programs, field trips, and educational sessions for keiki and families. From planting kalo to learning how to propagate native plants through cuttings, participants get the chance to dig in, get their hands dirty, and discover what it takes to grow and care for the land. These experiences help build a deeper appreciation for agriculture, nature, and sustainability.

Horsemanship Education

Hawaii Horsemanship Academy

Ricochet Ranch is proud to be home to Hawaii Horsemanship Academy, whose mission is to make horsemanship more accessible and affordable for Hawaiʻi's youth. Through hands-on education and horseback riding lessons, the academy works to break down barriers that often keep young people from experiencing the world of horses. By creating opportunities for keiki of all backgrounds to learn and grow, the academy hopes to inspire confidence, responsibility, and a lifelong love for horsemanship.

Guiding Ethos

The health of this pasture is measured by living soil depth, honest fencing, and the neighbors who gather to lend a hand.
